Editor-in-Chief: Luo Jie
Professor Luo Jie is a distinguished academic leader at Hainan University and a doctoral supervisor, specializing in the regulation and improvement of crop nutritional quality. He was awarded the "National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars" by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2016, selected as a leading talent in technological innovation under the "Ten Thousand Talent Program" in 2017, recognized as a "Middle-aged and Young Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation" by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2016, and included in the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" in 2009. He was also honored as an Outstanding Talent in Hainan Province in 2019 and as a National Advanced Worker in 2020.Professor Luo has led numerous significant research projects, including key projects and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, "863" key projects, and "973" research topics. His research achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Special Prize for Outstanding Academic Papers at the 16th Hubei Provincial Natural Science Conference and the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Hainan Province.As a corresponding author (including co-corresponding author), he has published a series of research papers in internationally renowned journals such as Cell, Nature Genetics, Nature Plants, Nature Communications, PNAS, Trends in Plant Science, The Plant Cell, and Molecular Plant. Eight of these papers have been selected as ESI highly cited papers.
Executive Editor: Wu Shaoying
Professor Wu Shaoying is a distinguished academic leader in tropical entomology at Hainan University, serving as a professor and doctoral supervisor. She currently holds the position of Deputy Director of the Editorial Department at Hainan University and serves as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Tropical Biology. In addition, she is a member of the editorial board of the JCR Q1 journal Journal of Economic Entomology. As a leading figure in tropical insect science, Professor Wu has dedicated her career to teaching and research in insect molecular biology and neurotoxicology, with a particular focus on insecticide resistance mechanisms. Her research findings have provided critical insights for agricultural pest management, resistance evolution patterns, and integrated pest control strategies.Professor Wu earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural Entomology and Pest Control from China Agricultural University in 2012. From 2014 to 2017, she conducted postdoctoral research at Michigan State University in the United States. Since December 2018, she has been affiliated with Hainan University as a Tier C talent, where she was appointed as a professor and doctoral supervisor in the same year. She has led and participated in numerous research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Major Special Project on Genetically Modified Organisms, the Ministry of Agriculture-Hainan Province Joint Project on Monitoring and Control of Major Invasive Species, and key and major projects from the Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Her research outputs include 41 high-quality SCI-indexed papers published in prestigious journals such as PNAS, Pest Management Science, and Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, many of which she authored or co-authored as the corresponding author.Professor Wu has also made significant contributions to education. The course she teaches, Ornamental Plant Entomology, has been recognized as a National Quality Course, a Ministry of Education Bilingual Teaching Demonstration Course, a "First Batch of Online Open Courses," and a National Quality Resource-Sharing Course. Her academic achievements have been honored with numerous awards, including the "China Agricultural Science Society Outstanding Paper Award" in 2005, the "Hainan Provincial May 4th Youth Medal" in 2018, and recognition as a Tier C talent in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in 2022. In 2023, she was awarded the title of "Hainan Province Outstanding Graduate Supervisor," and in 2024, she received the "Second Prize in the 9th National College Students Life Science Competition" as a guiding teacher.
