Abstract: Young leaves of mango potted young trees were used as materials to analysis the damages and protection response under the enhanced UV-B radiation. The results showed that the content of MDA and the relative conductivity increase, while the content of chlorophyll and the ratio of chlorophyll a/b decrease after UV-B treatment, and the enhanced UV-B radiation cause the damages of leaves, which would be worse with longer treatment period. The contents of soluble protein, activities of antioxidant enzymes(SOD,CAT),protective pigments(flavonodis, carotenoids) and reducd GSH of leaves treated with UV-B were higher than that of control group significantly, while the content of Vc and activities of POD were lower than that of control group significantly. These data indicated that enhanced UV-B radiation can induce the leaves to absorb part of the enhanced UV-B radiation and elevate its resistance against enhanced UV-B radiation in cells through intensifying the oxidant scavenging activities and accumulating protective pigments.
